These videos from the BBC and those found on Youtube help to explain how V-shaped valleys are formed.

Youtube - V-shaped valleys

A wonderful one minute animated video to explain how v-shaped valleys are formed.

Youtube - The river Severn from source to mouth.

Suitable for use in schools and appropriate to Key Stage 2 and Key Stage 3, this video is well produced and contains many illustrated diagrams to explain how features such as waterfalls and oxbow lakes are formed. This video makes a good introduction to the topic of rivers.

BBC - The Rakaia river, New Zealand 4:36

Opens in a new window. This video looks at an example of a glacier fed river and the it contrasts well with the rivers pupils maybe familiar with.

These river images make it clear and easy to understand what the different features are and they offer a powerful illustration of the way that rivers shape our land.
