London is the capital city of the United Kingdom but it is also classed as a global city as it is an important part of the economic system. In fact it is one of only two Alpha ++ cities in the world that are classed as such due to their economic and political influence. Also taken into consideration in ranking global cities is the cultural and infrastructure present in a city.
